Exceptional food on offer
Remember the days when the only food available at outdoor events was greasy burgers or hotdogs? Luckily, times have changed and part of enjoying a day out at a big sporting occasion is being able to choose from a wide variety of carefully sourced, delicious food.
SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials (13-16 September) is delighted that, through the event’s new partnership with Freemans Event Partners, its food and drink offerings around the site will be much enhanced in 2018.
Freemans Event Partners, who have worked with prestigious events for 40 years, including the Ryder Cup, the Henley Royal Regatta, the British Masters and the Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration, are helping SsangYong Blenheim Palace develop its food court areas. Each area will be beautifully dressed and designed with plenty of seating.
Offerings will include jerk chicken, wild salmon and buttermilk burgers, gourmet meatballs, freshly baked bagels, Yorkshire puddings and pulled pork, frozen cocktails and lots more.
This new relationship will be complemented by our successful partnership with Relish of Cirencester, now in its third year, with whom the organisers have spent time developing flexible dining options in the Marlborough Pavilion, the excellent facility adjacent to the main arena in front of the Palace. Here visitors can enjoy breakfast, lunch or tea in a relaxed, informal but upmarket environment with great views of the activities in the main arena and with the Palace as a spectacular backdrop. The new foodwalk in the trade stand village proved a hit in 2017 with both visitors and campsite users, who found it particularly handy to purchase fresh, local food to eat back at base each night, and has been upgraded and expanded for 2018. There will be more than 20 stands offering mouth-watering treats, from the wickedly indulgent cakes and brownies of The Apprentice winner Ridiculously Rich to Peaky Blinders’ spiced gin, whisky and rum and The Pie Creator’s handmade pies, sausage rolls, Scotch eggs, terrines and pâtés.
Mandy Hervieu, SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials’ Event Director, said: “Blenheim is renowned for top-class eventing, great shopping and lots to do, but we also want it to be known for having a superb choice of food and drink.”
SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials is one of Britain’s most prestigious equestrian events. Its principal classes are the CCI3* and the CIC3* for eight- and nine-year-old horses, featuring many of the best riders in the world. The event also hosts multiple opportunities for amateur riders, including arena eventing classes for individuals and Pony Club and riding club teams, a new Retraining of Racehorses dressage championship and the popular fun ride round the beautiful Blenheim Palace estate.
As well as the sporting action, SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials features excellent, carefully selected, shopping opportunities. There is a full and varied programme in the Attractions Arena every day, superb children’s entertainment and great food, ranging from locally produced outlets to a range of dining packages.
