Riders hit dizzy heights for Willberry Wonder Pony
Eight riders with eight brave Berry Ponies faced the High Jump on Saturday despite the inclement weather. All gave amazing performances with the four remaining riders, Vicky Laing, Jack Pinkney, Scarlett Ward and Gemma Tattersall deciding to share the Prize Money before the ground conditions became unsafe for their horses. The four immediately donated the £500 to Willberry Wonder Pony, matched by £500 from the event. In addition £1100 was collected from the crowd watching the competition.
The riders who took part were:
Vicky Laing - no stranger to Blenheim having competed here and at Burghley as an event rider before turning to show jumping, where she now competes at Grand Prix level and trains with Michael Whitaker.
Jack Pinkney – stable jockey to Austin O’Connor since 2014, currently competing youngsters to 2*.
Scarlett Ward – young show jumper who has trained under Ben Maher and been stable jockey to Tim Stockdale, she also competes at dressage on her own mare.
Gemma Tattersall – member of British Olympic Eventing Team in Rio, riding her Grand Prix show jumper!
Mike Jackson – international event rider, high jumper, gate jumper, hunt master and wonderful supporter of the Attractions Arena at Blenheim.
Tristram Owers – international event rider – has competed at Blenheim 14 times. Currently combines show jumping with eventing – was jumping a 6 year old mare from the Billy Stud who he hopes to bring back to Blenheim for the 8/9 year old class.
George Hilton Jones – event rider who was riding his own 2* horse.
Ben Cornwall riding a 10 year old mare who only started her jumping career a year ago after being used as a brood mare.
We would like to thank them all for giving their time so generously to raise money for Willberry Wonder Pony.
