Gibbon wins Gatehouse BE90 Amateur Dressage Championship

Sunday, September 20, 2015 - 11:30

Earlier this year we were delighted to introduce another opportunity for grassroots riders to experience the magic of Blenheim Palace Horse Trials from the saddle, so as the sun set behind the Palace on Friday, Becky Gibbon and Ducky Bank were crowned the winners of this inaugural Gatehouse BE90 Amateur Eventer Dressage Championship.

This class was designed to give competitors who have competed at affiliated British Eventing competitions around the country at BE80, BE90 and BE100 level* the chance to qualify for a place to perform their dressage in the atmospheric Marlborough Arena with the stunning backdrop of Blenheim Palace behind them.

The pair produced some very established work to finish on a mark of 27.5 in a competitive section. Their place in the championships was well-deserved, as they had achieved sub-30 dressage marks in all six of their British Eventing outings this season.

Reading-based Becky, who works in the HR department at the English Provender Company, said: “We qualified at a number of events and have been competing at BE90 and British Dressage for a couple of seasons.  I initially had him a share but bought him outright in March; since then we have qualified for the Petplan Regional Novice Championships and placed ninth at the regional prelim championships two weeks ago.”

Molly Edwards, 14, and Biscuit won the Gatehouse BE80 Amateur Dressage Championship yesterday, while Vicki Hancox and Dunaire Duke Of York took the BE100 final.
