Equestrian Fire Relief Australia Fund Donation
As a gesture of solidarity towards the Australian equestrian community, which is suffering so terribly from bushfires this winter, SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials has donated 40 admission tickets for the first day of dressage at this year’s event — Thursday, 17 September 2020 — to be used in the online auction and as raffle prizes at the Eventing Riders Association (ERA)-organised Celebrity Riders Fundraising Demo For Aussie Fires on 26 January, and £1,000 to the Equestrian Fire Relief Australia Fund (EFRA).
The successful bidders on and winners of these SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials tickets will have the opportunity of an exclusive cross-country course-walk with Australian rider Chris Burton, winner of Blenheim’s prestigious CCI4*-S class for eight- and nine-year-old horses in both 2017 and 2019.
SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials’ Event Director Mandy Hervieu said: “Eventing is such a ‘community’ sport and, like members of the Eventing Riders Association (ERA), we are keen to do what we can.
“Blenheim Horse Trials is owned by the sport’s governing body, British Eventing, which usually invests any event profits back into the sport for the benefit of members. British Eventing has kindly agreed to let us make a significant donation to the Equestrian Fire Relief Australia Fund, as well as tickets to our 2020 event, to help further its fundraising efforts. We hope a huge sum can be raised for this urgent cause and encourage everyone to give what they can through https://www.equestrianfirerelief.com.au/.”
Eventing Riders Association Vice-President and Australian event rider Paul Tapner thanked Blenheim Horse Trials for their support: "Blenheim Horse Trials epitomises why there are so many Australian eventing riders living in the UK. Blenheim is an amazing venue that is loved by many riders from the Pony Clubbers to the elite professionals who compete there every year. The response to the Eventing Riders Association's fundraising efforts has been phenomenal in both its scale and immediacy. ERA is hugely grateful to the substantial donation given by Blenheim Horse Trials; it will make a massive difference to the lives of our fellow Aussie equestiran mates who have been affected by the ongoing fire disaster in Australia."
Well-known Australian event rider Bill Levett added: "I may live on the other side of the world but my roots and a large part of my family are still in Australia. Its been hard to watch whats happening there. I am extremely grateful to Blenheim Horse Trials for their generosity in donting such fantastic auction items. Blenheim is a great event - one of my favourites in the eventing calendar."
